Palmetto to Marathon Key

Palmetto to Marathon Key

We purchased our 2015 Fontaine Pajot hull #113 in Sept 2018 it looked like brand new and I was told it was out maybe 10 to15 times in Galveston Bay. It also came with an Incidences code Zero and an ISTEC parasail (the parasail was never used) so we had a clean slate to start from.

During the 2018 Christmas holidays we flew down to Kemah, Tx and sailed our boat over to Palmetto FL.  We decided to base our work out of Palmetto for access to better resources to do modifications to the boat. We flew back to Minnesota to wrap up closing on the house and pack every thing that we are taking with us: “If its not on the boat we don’t own it”. Deb and I drove down to Palmetto, Fl on Jan 10th 2019 and started to work on the boat.  About 120 days and lots of dollars later, we sold our truck and car and started our adventure! We sailed out of Palmetto and headed to the east coat of Florida and around to the Keys. There were a few loose ends to take care of and we ended up in Marathon waiting for a weather window to sail to the Bahamas… looks like Saturday June 1st , route looking like leaving 8:00 AM, crossing the gulf stream and arriving in The Bahamas 24 hours later, over night passage required.

Looking like Berry Islands, Bahamas for check in!
