2-1/2 Day sail: Fort pierce Florida to Wilmington North Carolina
Hurricane season is coming we had limited choices of where we could go.
Are present our Insurance policy requires us to be above the Tropic of Cancer which is (23.5° N latitude July 1 through October 31). With an “air clearance” requirement (mast height) 69 Feet, we found our options limited of where we can go in on the east coast of the US. We wanted a safe harbor during hurricane season and up the Cape Fear river in Wilmington is where we ended up. We are 7 miles inland at a marina that has floating docks. It turns out Wilmington NC is a really nice city (bonus) we have found a yoga studio that we attend almost every day and the city has lots going on and things to do. After our shakedown run to the Bahamas we had a list of things that we would like to take care of before we head out this fall. We are working through our list of projects that we want done before we head out mid October or November 1st.
