Sailing Potomac to DC

Sailing Potomac to DC

We had a few weeks to explore the Chesapeake Bay Area, so we headed up the Potomac to Washington DC. The Potomac was very quiet at this time of year, and we had the River “to ourselves” many of the miles as well as all of our anchorages. There is an Anchorage right at the new Wharf area in SW Downtown, just a mile from the Mall. Even on the weekend, DC was quiet, few tourists and little traffic.
We also anchored at Mount Vernon, and were lucky enough to have a huge fireworks display go off overhead that night.

Even through our plans to be in the tropics for this hurricane season was derailed due to the pandemic, we have really enjoyed seeing a part of the US that we had not yet explored.
